W. W. Caruth, III Endowed Scholarship

The W. W. Caruth III Endowed Scholarship was established by Tolleson Wealth Management in honor of W. W. “Bill” Caruth III and his longstanding commitment to serving communities around the world. The scholarship reflects his desire to help equip students who will make a meaningful impact through service, education, and ministry among underserved and minority communities globally.

Mr. Caruth was a founding member of the Board of Trustees of Dallas International University and served as board chair from 2003 until his retirement in 2017. His leadership and dedication helped strengthen the university’s mission of preparing students to serve cross-culturally around the world.

A descendant of one of Dallas’s pioneering families, Mr. Caruth’s family established their homestead in the Dallas area in 1848. Over time, the Caruth family became one of the largest landowners in North Dallas, with holdings that stretched from Downtown Dallas north to Forest Lane and from Inwood Road east to Abrams Road.

Mr. Caruth has devoted his life to philanthropy, civic leadership, and community advocacy. He serves as a trustee of the Hillcrest Foundation, founded in 1957 by Mrs. W. W. Caruth Sr. (Earle Clark Caruth). Alongside his wife, Minnie, he has championed support for law enforcement personnel and victims of family violence through both charitable giving and public advocacy. He has also served in leadership roles with the Nita Stewart Haley Memorial Library and History Center, the Institute for Studies and Identification Technologies, and the Free Market Foundation.

Through this endowed scholarship, Mr. Caruth’s legacy continues by helping students receive the education and preparation needed to serve communities around the world with compassion, wisdom, and lasting impact.
